BWBR - Coastal Master Naturalist Course

This is the basic training course for the Coastal Chapter of the Mississippi Master Naturalist Program. This year's course will cover various topics including forest ecology, entomology, coastal ecology, habitat management, human impacts on the coast, marine fisheries, estuarine ecology, environmental law, barrier islands, and ornithology. Lecture material will be delivered virtually via an online learning platform. Field trips will be all-day (roughly 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.); dates and locations of the field trips are as follows: 9/9 - Wiggins, MS; 9/23 - Moss Point, MS; 9/30 - Dauphin Island, AL; 10/7 - Weeks Bay, AL; 10/14 - Gulfport & Ship Island, MS. Field trips include strenuous activities such as hiking through the forest and taking inshore and offshore boat trips. Most of the field trips are weather-dependent, so they are subject to change. Four (4) Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available with this course.
